You’ve spent good money on your AirPods, so you probably don’t want to lose them. Thankfully, you have several options at your disposal to help you keep track of them and prevent your AirPods from getting lost or stolen.
1. AirPod Straps
Straps are an inexpensive and easy way to secure your AirPods. There’s a massive variety of these available from dozens of sellers, and you don’t have to shell out much for quality products. You can get a functional and comfortable strap for less than 12 bucks.
Most of these products work by clipping on to the earbuds with a cord that sits behind your neck. These simple accessories will catch your AirPods if they fall out of your ears and use minimal material, so you don’t have to deal with a mess of wires around your body. Straps come in all sorts of designs from all kinds of designers, so it won’t be hard to find one that suits your tastes.
2. Tile Tracking Products
Tile is the leading name in tracking products, and you can use it with your earbuds. By attaching one of these tiny devices to your charging case, you can use their companion app to see where it is. These products use location services enabled by the Internet to pinpoint where they are.
There are also other companies besides Tile that offer similar services, giving you more options, such as the elago Duo Silicone Case for Apple AirPods.
3. Ear Hooks
AirPod straps keep wires down to a minimum, but maybe you don’t want any cords at all. After all, that is the advantage of wireless earbuds. If you don’t want to use any cables, fear not, because there are still products that will secure your AirPods without using wires.
Ear hooks are a great way to make sure your AirPods stay in your ears. Some iterations use hooks that wrap around the outside of your ear while others fit inside your ear, making the earbuds fit more securely. Ear hooks are easy to use, effective and don’t have any cords to get in your way.
4. Hard-to-Lose Cases
Maybe you don’t have any trouble with your AirPods falling out of your ears, but you have a habit of misplacing their case. There are solutions to this problem, too. You can solve this issue with something as simple as a case that’s hard to lose.
Hard-to-lose cases can take many forms. Some have keychains so you can attach them to your keys, bag or belt loop. There are also cases available that come in loud colors or striking designs so they stand out from everything else.
5. Find My AirPods App
If you lose one or both of your AirPods outside of their case, you can still track them, and you can do so without any extra hardware. Your iPhone’s Find My app uses Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to locate connected devices, including AirPods.
When you open the Find My app, you’ll see a list of devices that are registered under your Apple ID. If you tap on a device’s name, its location will appear on a map on your screen. If your AirPods are close enough for a Bluetooth connection, you can use the app to play a sound that will gradually grow louder, helping you find them.
