If you are already a proud owner of a Microsoft Surface with Windows RT, you may be asking yourself: Which keyboard & mouse, printer and many other peripherals are compatible with your new device? And you aren’t wrong asking this question, as you know Windows RT is a stripped-down version of Windows 8 which runs on ARM processors and not every device you own or thinking on purchasing will work. Knowing this Microsoft has included Windows RT to the list of operating systems to make it easier for users to check for hardware support in its Windows Compatibility Center.
This means that with Windows 8 and Windows 7, the Compatibility Center site is now the largest database to check if products you already own or thinking on buying are compatible with Surface and other Windows PC form factors (desktop, laptop, Ultrabook, and tablets). Also according to Steven Sinofsky, president of the Windows division, Windows RT is compatible with more than 420 millions already available hardware products.
To use this database, simply follow this link and do a search for the product you are interested, but only make sure that at the top-right corner of the screen the operating system is set to Windows RT and not Windows 8 or Windows 7.
