We purchased the Ficmax Ergonomic Gaming Chair so our expert reviewer could thoroughly test and assess it. Keep reading for our full product review.

When shopping for an ideal gaming chair, comfort and durability are king. The Ficmax Ergonomic Gaming Chair packs both in spades, a luxurious upgrade to your worn beanbag chair or recliner. Get unstuck from the groove in the couch with an upgrade to one of these modern video game thrones.

We recently tested a FicMax Ergonomic Gaming Chair unit to see how it lives up to the competition. We evaluated setup, build time, durability, comfort, and whether it’s worth your hard earned money.

Setup Process: Easier said than done

Setup of the The Ficmax Ergonomic was very difficult. Inside the box you’ll find a complicated instruction manual as well as several sets of screws, washers, bolts, a proprietary Allen wrench, and all of the chair’s components. Make sure you hold onto the instructions, and we’d recommend grabbing a friend. Unlike other gaming chairs, this particular model takes more than a minute to build. Setup of this chair took upwards of an hour and was reminiscent of Ikea furniture, too many parts and obscure directions. The trouble comes from trying to decipher the images in the manual and in fully snapping together all of the tiny plastic pieces that make up this unit. It was a grueling process, but luckily the end result justified all that effort.

Design: Worth the wait

The real beauty of the Ficmax Ergonomic is in the name. This chair is built for comfort and support during extended gaming. The chair itself is covered in a luxurious PU Leather coating and sits atop a strong alloy frame coated in a high density foam, making for an incredibly smooth and cushioned incline for body and back. Its sleek, racing-seat-inspired aesthetics make it a perfect addition to the modern gaming battlestation, though it may look a little garish in a sedate office environment.

The chair focuses on what it truly does best, comfort, but lacks additional bells and whistles.

Comfort and features: A plush adventure in sitting

You can customize the Ficmax Ergonomic to your liking in a variety of ways with fully adjustable neck, lumbar, and leg support. If you’re feeling sleepy, enjoy the support of the adjustable leg rest (or store it nicely under the chair with a slide of the hand). This gaming chair offers little in terms of extras but takes a refined approach to what it was designed to do best—swaddle you in comfort while you go head hunting in Apex Legends.

The Ficmax Ergonomic gaming chair is a testament to the power of simplicity.

The strong alloy frame and sturdy hydraulic base means this chair is capable of supporting frames up to 300 lbs. The downside to this unit comes from the massage function. In a perfect world, the Fixmax would be battery powered or have some sort of internal power source for the massage features—instead the massager relies on USB power and must be close to an electrical outlet to take advantage of this feature.

Price: An excellent value

The Ficmax Ergonomic Gaming Chair clocks in around $179 MSRP and is significantly more comfortable than the average office chair, boasting a slick design and designed for comfort across long hours. We found ourselves dozing off as we clicked through the massage unit’s vibration settings and experienced both upper and lower lumbar massage. The Ficmax Ergonomic gaming chair is a testament to the power of simplicity.

The Ficmax Ergonomic Gaming Chair provides a superior level of comfort for a price that doesn’t break the bank.

Ficmax Ergonomic Gaming Chair vs X Rocker 51396 Pro Series

When compared to other models the Fixmax Ergonomic Gaming chair reflects a simpler and more modern approach to gaming. The chair focuses on what it truly does best, comfort, but lacks additional bells and whistles. The X Rocker 51396 Pro Series is more fully featured and boldly designed, while offering the same lower back comfort and the addition of Bluetooth capabilities and audio. Both chairs require USB outlets to activate the massage features, weigh approximately the same amount, and retail for nearly the same price (the Ficmax Ergonomic is $179 while the X Rocker 51396 Pro Series goes for $180). A dollar difference for extra technology goes a long way.

Absolute comfort that might put you to sleep.
