It looks like Apple is on-track to release an updated iPad mini this fall, with a new model of iMac that uses Apple Silicon also said to be in the works.

Gurman said the updated iPad mini will utilize the latest processor, possibly referring to Apple’s A14 Bionic processor, which is currently used in the iPhone 12 and 4th generation iPad Air. The new iPad Mini’s overall design is also said to be similar to the more current iPad Air models.

Additionally, there is speculation that the new iPad mini will be sized somewhere between 8.5-inches to 9-inches, which could end up pretty close to the original 9.7-inch iPad’s dimensions.

The new in-development iMac is said to be addressing a common complaint among current iMac users: screen size. While there’s no concrete information available yet, Gurman suggests the new model could include a larger screen than the latest 27-inch Intel models. It’s also estimated that the new iMac likely will use an M1X or M2X processor.

Public response to the news of the rumored iMac and the updated iPad mini has been fairly unenthusiastic. iMac enthusiasts view the rumors as an obvious progression, while iPad mini fans feel it’s too little, too late. Regarding news of the new iPad mini, Twitter user @TheProducteer wrote, “I was a mini fan for years waiting for this to happen. But at this point I’d rather have a slimmer and lighter 11 inch pro.”
