So you stayed up late playing your favorite game and aren’t sure you’ll make it to class on time in the morning. It would be super convenient to set an alarm on your 3DS or 2DS before closing it for the night. Unfortunately, neither the Nintendo 3DS nor the 2DS has a built-in alarm clock. The 3DS XL doesn’t have one either. However, you can download the Mario Clock and the Photo Clock apps from the Nintendo 3DS eShop. Both apps are also downloadable at the Nintendo DSi Shop for the DSi at the same price.

Photo Clock

The Photo Clock lets you use pictures from your Nintendo DSi or 3DS photo albums as backgrounds. You can set up to three different alarms with snooze functionality, select either an analog or digital clock, and assign a preset ring or use a sound you create in Nintendo DSi Sound.

Mario Clock

The Mario Clock lets you play around in Mario’s world and collect coins. You can use it to program up to three different alarms with snooze functionality. The clock is based on the original Super Mario Bros. game. Like Photo Clock, Mario Clock includes both analog and digital clock options that use the system’s internal clock. Assign your favorite Mario-related sound to the alarm or use one you create in the Nintendo DSi Sound application.

Both clocks’ alarms work when the 3DS and the DSi are closed — in sleep mode — but if you exit the apps before engaging sleep mode, the alarms won’t go off.
