Deathloop will be released later than planned. Instead of the launch title of the PlayStation 5, the game will only be launched in the second quarter of 2021. In a statement, Arkane argued about the reasons.
It seems that the transition to the new generation of consoles will be more bumpy than usual. Important information about the launch of the new hardware are pending a few months before the expected release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Games are also being delayed. Today it was the turn of Deathloop.
After Deathloop was supposed to be the launch title for the PS5, the makers announced today that a launch in the second quarter of 2021 will take place instead. The title will also appear on the PC at the same time. A launch on the Xbox Series X was also under discussion.
In the statement on the delay of Deathloop, the creators emphasize: “Our ambition for DEATHLOOP is to deliver a signature Arkane game that takes you to never-before-seen places in a stylish new world.”
In the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, development was shifted to the employees’ homes. But the desired “polish and quality level that defines both an Arkane game and a true next-gen experience, is taking longer than normal,” lasted longer than during development in the studio.
The additional development time should enable the team to create the world of Deathloop as you are used to from the team. “While we know this is the right decision for DEATHLOOP, we share your disappointment, and apologize for making you wait even longer,” they further commented.
According to the developers, Deathloop is a groundbreaking first-person action title in which you land on an island called Blackreef. The people living there apparently do not obey any law as the eternal struggle between two extraordinary assassins continues. A 4K resolution with 60 FPS should be achieved on the PS5.
