CD Projekt RED has always been somewhat controversial with their decision making and for Cyberpunk 2077 they will include real religion regardless of whether it offends anyone.

Reports suggest that the player will run into Christian factions in the game and seeing how Night City is structured, it makes sense to have people of all kinds be available in the game.

Often the subject of religion is excluded from game to avoid any unwanted attention and backlash but the inclusion of such elements will let players get a real feel as to what will Night City be truly like.

You could search the depths of the city and find a contrast when comparing people and places, A CDPR representative said

“We will not avoid any subject, even if they may offend the sensitivity of some. Our vision of Cyberpunk is not to describe an alternative world but a continuity of our world. Some things will look like our current reality, For example, Christianity is present in the game and will even have a faction.”

This certainly gives a different outlook to Cyberpunk 2077 but the fact that in such a modern futuristic society, it will be intriguing to see what and how religion is portrayed.

As it is common for tradition and customs to change according to the time, it will be fascinating to see how it is being represented and what effects does it still have on the world.

Cyberpunk 2077 is being developed by CD Projekt RED and will be released on the 16th April 2020 for Xbox One, PC and PS4.
