CES 2023 Rumors

For the 2023 event, CES will focus on “human security,” defined by the United Nations as access to food, health care, clean air and water, and other basic human rights. For example, the CEO of John Deere is slated to speak about the agricultural industry’s role in meeting growing demands for food production.

The automotive industry will have an increased presence this year, making CES the biggest auto show in North America. As usual, major electronic manufacturers will unveil new TVs, laptops, and other tech gadgets. The Metaverse and artificial intelligence are also expected to take center stage.

What Kinds of Things Are Usually Announced at CES?

CES began in 1967 and has created a reputation for being the place for new tech announcements. In 1970, for example, CES showed a prototype of the videocassette recorders. Twelve years later, the eight-bit Commodore 64 launched at the event. DVDs, HDTV, Xbox, fitness bands, Blu-ray discs, 8k TVs… the list of innovative tech first shown at CES goes on and on.

In 2020, CES hosted more than 4,400 exhibitors and covered technologies from artificial intelligence and 5G to sustainable tech trends.

CES tends to be mainly about home entertainment announcements. Don’t expect to see much involving new smartphones, though. CES always has exciting keynote speakers, and 2022 was no exception. Samsung’s keynote centered on its vision for an Age of Togetherness.
