It is a small creature from Bogano and once you have it you can always find it on the Mantis and Bogano. How to get bogling companion?
To get the bogling companion you will first have to visit Bogano, leave and then come back again. When you land for the second time, exit the Mantis and take the path that goes to the right. There you will see a ramp and it will lead into a cave.
There you can see a small creature mess around a broken door, you will then need to break down the door and interact with the creature for it to join your crew.
Where to find bogling companion on Mantis spaceship?
Once the companion joins the Mantis you will see it from time to time, it doesn’t do much and just is passively hanging around. You can keep looking for the bogling companion above the flower bed where you will see a vent and other place is below the holotable.
Unlike BD-1 the bogling companion offers no help and neither does it interact with you, there are no actions available so it just feels like a novelty easter egg which you can have.
